thanks to Time Magazine for the depressing photo essay about how we shoot animals into space. At least when humans go into space, they usually die from exploding before leaving our atmosphere.
Test animals make it into space, but then burn up on re-entry, or die from dehydration, starvation or drowning in the ocean.
